ContactsLaw: [FAQ] Third parties added automatically to a file

Third parties seem to be added to my files automatically, how does this happen and why?

Third parties on a file are all contacts with whom you interact with regarding the matter, therefore ContactsLaw assists in the process of collecting likely contacts for this purpose. Currently, contacts are added to the list of third parties when you:

  • Add them to a journal on that file.
  • Identify them during document cataloguing as pertaining to a document on that file. The contact is only added if the role is marked 'Third party'.
  • Use them during the process of document creation on the file. Again, the role must be marked 'Third party'.
  • Add them to the third party list on the file manually.

ContactsLaw will never automatically add The Practice, any member or court contact to the list of third parties.
